Abbey Life
Commissioning an eight metre three part rotating hanging for the central atrium and a 24 piece stained glass mural for the entrance.
Art Search worked closely with the Board of Abbey Life to design an impressive work of art for their huge atrium in the centre of their Headquarters Building in Eastbourne. The final work created by Sophie Pattinson was a three part hanging depicting The Tree of Life entwining elements of abbey architecture. The artist
provided detailed maquettes of the work which were then approved by the board before the work was undertaken. For ease of maintenance it was agreed that the rotation of the three part hanging should be non motorised, this was achieved using specially adapted yachting chandlery.
For the entrance the same theme was employed to create a twelve part stained glass mural by Sarianne Durie which also incorporated The Tree of Life and abbey architecture theme.
